Hand-Painted Nazar Ritual Plate
Clearing + Protection
Expected Ship by November 6th
Handmade with intention and rich with symbolism, this Nazar Ritual Plate features the iconic blue-and-white eye traditionally associated with protection from the nazar or “evil eye.” Each piece is individually wheel-thrown and hand-painted by the ceramic artist, making it both a functional ritual tool and a beautiful piece of handmade pottery.
I’d place this near an entryway, on an altar, or anywhere you intentionally clear your energy and space. The Nazar has long been used as a protective symbol against jealousy, envy, ill intention, and the harmful gaze of others, making this plate especially beautiful for rituals centered around protection, energetic boundaries, and clearing what you don't want to carry.
The Meaning of the Nazar
The Nazar has deep cultural roots throughout Turkey and the wider Mediterranean, Middle East, Balkans, and surrounding regions. In Turkish culture, the familiar eye-shaped amulet is traditionally used to protect against the evil eye—the belief that an envious or harmful gaze can bring misfortune.
Rather than representing an evil eye itself, the Nazar is traditionally understood as a protective symbol intended to repel or deflect it.
This particular design also carries a personal connection for its maker: the artist shares that her father adorned her with Nazar from the moment she was born, so she grew up surrounded by this protective imagery. I love that these aren't simply reproductions of a popular symbol—they're handmade by an artist for whom the Nazar is part of her own lived cultural experience.

Handmade from Start to Finish
Each plate begins as a wheel-thrown stoneware ceramic piece. The artist hand-paints each individual color with approximately 2–3 layers of underglaze, fires the piece, applies a clear glossy glaze, and fires it again at temperatures exceeding 2,000°F / 1,093°C.
Because each plate is individually thrown and painted by hand, small variations are part of what makes your piece unique.
Order is for ONE Hand-Painted Nazar Ritual Plate.
Details: Approximately 5–5.5" wide • Wheel-thrown mid-fire stoneware ceramic • Hand-painted Nazar design • Clear glossy glaze • Fired twice • Handmade by an independent ceramic artist • Designed for long-lasting use with proper care
Fire + Smoke Safety
Although the maker describes these stoneware plates as suitable for smoke-cleansing use, always practice appropriate fire safety. Never leave burning materials unattended. Keep the plate on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from children, pets, drafts, and flammable objects. Fully extinguish herbs or incense after use and allow the ceramic to cool before handling.
Please Note: Each piece is handmade rather than factory-produced. Slight differences in shape, dimensions, brushwork, glaze, and coloration are natural characteristics of handmade pottery and part of the individuality of your plate.
