White Onyx Ritual Holder — Smoke Cleanse + Taper Candle Trivet

Soft, luminous, and carved from natural White Onyx, this substantial stone holder is designed to bring intention to the everyday rituals that shape your space.

In addition to its standard use for palo santo and incense, I love this for creating your own candle rituals. Place a small taper candle in the center and use the Onyx dish beneath it as a trivet, arranging herbs, crystals, written intentions, or other ritual elements around the candle. Choose each element intentionally based on what you're working with—love, abundance, protection, release, manifestation, cleansing, or something entirely your own. When you're finished, clear the dish and use it again for Palo Santo or incense.

White Onyx is often worked with in modern crystal practice for grounding, clarity, balance, and centering. Rather than simply clearing something away, I love using it to ask a second question: What energy am I intentionally creating in its place?

Create Your Own Candle Ritual

The generous surface of this piece makes it particularly beautiful as the foundation for a small ritual arrangement.

You might surround your candle with:

Rose petals for love + self-love
Rosemary for protection + cleansing
Lavender for peace + intuition
Cinnamon for abundance + manifestation
Bay for intention + manifestation
Salt for cleansing + boundaries
Crystals chosen specifically for the energy you're working with

The herbs themselves don't create the intention—you do. Think of them as physical symbols that help you give form and focus to what you're consciously working with.

Energetically, White Onyx is often worked with for:
✨ Manifestation + intention — create a physical ritual around something you're consciously calling in
✨ Grounding + centering — returning your awareness to yourself and the present moment
✨ Candle + ritual work — use as a stone trivet beneath a securely held taper candle and arrange ritual elements around it
✨ Smoke cleansing — a beautiful resting place for Palo Santo or incense
✨ Clarity — supporting the intention of clearing through energetic or mental noise
✨ Protection + boundaries — traditionally associated with creating a stronger energetic foundation
✨ Balance — bringing steadiness into your environment and spiritual practices
✨ Sacred Space — turning an everyday surface into a dedicated place for ritual

Candle + Fire Safety: When using this piece as a candle trivet, always place the taper candle inside a separate, stable, appropriately sized candle holder—do not stand a taper candle directly on the stone. Keep dried herbs and other combustible ritual materials well away from the flame, wick, and melted wax, and never allow herbs to burn unattended. Use on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from children, pets, drafts, and flammable materials. Never leave candles, incense, or smoldering wood unattended, and allow the stone to cool completely before handling.
